Description:

This Zipped eXe File provides basic support for practitioners and learners to use CamStudio, to produce quality resources and/or to capture evidence for ePortfolios.

Note: this is aimed at Beginners and does not address all the tools that are available within CamStudio; it only looks at the version that runs on Windows.

CamStudio empowers all users to...

  • record activity from a screen and audio from a microphone into AVI video files at a time and place convenient to them!
  • convert the AVIs into Streaming Flash videos (SWFs) using its built-in SWF Producer.

Practitioners and learners can use CamStudio to...

  • create video tutorials
  • create compelling video evidence that demonstrate a learner’s progression and/or under standing
  • create demonstration videos for any software program
  • create videos answering FAQs
  • record a recurring problem with a computer so users can show technical support staff
  • create video-based information about courses/training/etc
  • record tricks-n-techniques before they are forgotten

CamStudio also allows users to...

  • add high-quality, anti-aliased (no jagged edges) screen captions to their recordings in seconds
  • personalise their videos by including a webcam movie of themself "picture-in-picture" over their desktop.
  • control the output of their video: they can...
    • choose to use custom cursors,
    • record the whole screen o record a section of the screen
    • reduce or increase the quality of the recording depending on if they want smaller videos (for emailing to people, for instance) or "best quality" for burning onto CD/DVD.

Note: CamStudio also comes with its own Lossless Codec that produces crystal clear results with a much smaller filesize compared with other more popular codecs.
