“Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations to meet their own needs.” Brundtland (1987). It covers a wide range of issues, including energy use, recycling, disposal, alternative fuels, procurement and more.

Support that JISC RSC Northwest offers its learning providers includes:

  • Advice and guidance on shared services; energy efficient technology and online delivery
  • Communication channels and consultations providing access to up-to-date information for sustainability issues
  • Events which identify the relevance of sustainability issues and promote the benefits of appropriate actions
  • Training on the use of new and emerging technologies for green, sustainable online delivery of learning together with supporting resources
  • Access to peer support from around the region
  • Networks which share good practice, highlight opportunities and encourage collaboration
  • Training and resources for the use of technologies to enhance current practice and to enable learning providers to embrace technology for their strategic development
