  • Librarians and the 2009 Ofsted Inspection
At today’s North West Sixth Form College Librarians’ meeting we had a really interesting presentation from an Ofsted inspector talking about the 2009 Ofsted Common Inspection Framework. The group had invited her in to find out more about how the current inspection process impacted on library services. On my travels I’ve heard many times about [...]

  • Librarians – the Facebook experts?
Strange title I know but has it got you thinking?  Facebook is now a massive social influence on young persons lives.  They keep in touch via it, arrange to meet via it and also play games via it.  I’m sure they would instruct it to make the tea if it could!  But, worryingly there are [...]

  • 19th Century Classics on Kindle
The British Library and Amazon have recently announced a new agreement to make 65,000 of their 19th Century literature titles available free-of-charge through the Amazon Kindle Store.  I see this partnership as a big step towards the Kindle becoming the eReader of choice within the UK.  Have a look at the press release at: http://www.bl.uk/news/2010/pressrelease20100223a.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BritishLibraryPressReleases+%28British+Library+Press+Releases%29 [...]
