Learning providers have always had a duty of care for their learners at the heart of their policies and practice. Duty of care also includes safe use of technology. It is important that learners learn and are empowered to be safe and responsible when they are using technologies. (Becta, 2010)

Support that JISC RSC Northwest offers its learning providers includes:

  • Guidance on how the appropriate use of ILT can assist learning providers in meeting Safeguarding Ofsted 'limiting grade’ expectations
  • Guidance on the creation and implementation of organisational eSafety strategies and action plans
  • Facilitation of short-term communities of practice focussed on key areas of eSafety
  • Direction in obtaining legal advice
  • Consultation and advice for Managers responsible for eSafety
  • Advice on how to embed eSafety practices into teaching and learning
  • Access to peer support from around the region
  • Provision of regional and in-house eSafety training
  • Advice for, and resources to support, the delivery of eSafety policies and procedures
