The Learning and Skills Council document, Developing a Learner Involvement Strategy, links to a number of key aspects of personalisation. It describes what a learner involvement strategy can be like, why it’s needed, what can be included and how it can be developed and monitored. It provides broad guidance that can be adapted to fit individual provider circumstances, based on existing good practice within the sector and illustrated with case studies.

During inspection, Ofsted will look for evidence that providers have a learner involvement strategy and can show how learners are influencing the improvement of provision. From January it is proposed further education college governing bodies will have to include at least two learner governors. Inspectors will also be looking for signs of more personalised services and their impact.
