Audio: Inclusion - Read the words
An easy to use platform, that allows users alternative methods to process written information. http://readthewords.com/.
ReadTheWords.com began as a simple concept in January 2008:
Originally intending this site to be used for auditory learning,
it was found that the demand for this
technology reached far beyond the originally intended audience. Other learners, young professionals, actors and actresses, research
departments, bloggers, ecommerce sites, and others, expressed how this
technology could help them with their daily lives, and their
businesses.
ReadTheWords allows multiple input methods for users to create readings. Users can take full advantage of the created readings as mp3’s, enabling them to create podcasts and share them with others. Bloggers and website operators can paste an audio toolbar in their website or blog, making it possible for any reader to become a listener (A sample I produced can be found below as an audio toolbar).
Their Promise
"We will always use the latest technology in order to provide our users the clearest sounding, synthesized speech solutions. You will never have to worry about a better technology solution, as we strive to be the leader in this arena, and will continually keep pace with the ever-changing technologies."
Learners who find public speaking difficult, or who lack confidence when recording audio, can use the resulting mp3 files in presentations, videos etc. Changing the voice options can produce a number of 'voices'.
