Who can access it?

IDevice Icon Who Can Access it?
There are a number of people who may be required to access an ePortfolio. Access rights may range from full editing to read only, depending on where they are in the hierarchy of access.

The User
This is the learner or individual who adds and/or creates the evidence to go into the ePortfolio.

The Teacher
Even if the ePortfolio is not going to be assessed by the teacher, they may need to access it and give feedback.

The Verifier(s)
Both internal and external verifiers may be required to access the ePortfolio.

The Support Worker
Some individuals may require support in putting together their ePortfolio

The Assessor
Any internal or external assessor who needs to view, grade and give feedback about the evidence.

The Users Peers
Not appropriate for all types of ePortfolio, but essential for reflective ePortfolios which require reflective discussions with peers.

The Employer
There are some circumstances where an employer may require read-only access to assess progress.

The Public
Particularly important for presentation ePortfolios, however this raised issues regarding copyright and appropriate content.

Some people may be required to view more of the evidence than others. This brings in the issue of ownership and who decides who can see what.
