Location: Blackpool And The Fylde College
You are invited to an event run in partnership by Blackpool and The Fylde College and Intellident, one of the leading suppliers of self-service systems based on Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) and barcode technologies.
Blackpool and The Fylde College has recently opened a newly refurbished Learning Resource Centre for 14 - 19 students called The Loop. The centre is designed to provide different kinds of study environments for students and has been planned around the introduction of self-service systems.
Keynote speaker will be Les Watson. Now an independent consultant, Les was formerly Pro-Vice Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University where he developed a series of extremely innovative learning environments starting with a student internet café and culminating in the Saltire Centre.
Other speakers will include Fiona Emberton of Embervision and Tony Coffield from CuriousOranj. Fiona has a retail and library background and is a specialist in RFID planning and roll-out including necessary culture changes. CuriousOranj design hotels, clubs and bars as well as libraries. A recent project has been at Anglia Ruskin University. Former projects include the Saltire Centre, The Loop and many public libraries.
The day will include tours of The Loop and the opportunity to talk with The Loop team and will end with a general discussion on library design.
