Stimulating and Supporting Innovation in Learning

As Subject Learning Coaches, eGuides, Practitioners, Managers, Administrators etc., it is important to ask the question...

When it comes to communication, what is the established practice within your organisation?
e.g. As Learning Providers, how do you currently...
  1. ...provide Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) to existing and/or potential learners/staff?
  2. ...meet the Disability Equality Duty needs of existing and/or potential learners/staff?
  3. ...address Orality with existing and/or potential learners ? (Learners who find it difficult to / can't read or write but can understand the spoken words and express their thoughts orally)
  4. ...communicate your Organisational ILT/eLearning Vision to staff and/or learners?
  5. ...communicate your action plan/schedule of activities, responsibilities, timescales/mileposts, budgets etc to staff and other stakeholders?
  6. ...get learners/staff to systematically provide evidence of both impact and effectiveness of ILT/eLearning, for self assessment and quality improvement processes? (satisfaction surveys, session evaluations, lesson observations, IV sampling, team meetings, staff appraisals etc)
  7. ...provide personalised learning experiences for learners/staff?
  8. ...provide teaching and learning resources, for the programmes of learning offered, and how available are they? (24/7?)
  9. ...gather, record, store and assess learner evidence?
  10. ...provide staff and/or learners access to individual records / evidence / reflections / feedback / assessment decisions etc., and how available are they? (24/7?)
  11. ...etc.

And then to ask what advantages can ILT/eLearning bring?

For example, does using technology...
  • ...transform communication amongst/between staff, learners and other stake holders?
  • ...make communication better? (between management/staff/learners/other stake holders)
  • ...raise awareness of your organisation's vision for the development of eLearning etc?
  • ...enable staff across the organisation to actively contribute to the process of implementing, updating and developing the ILT/eLearning and/or other strategies or policy documents? (Have some ownership!)
  • ...aid the processes of...
    • ...evaluating impact and effectiveness of , for example, the ILT/eLearning strategy across the organisation?
    • ...self assessment?
    • ...quality improvement?
  • ...help provide personalised learning experiences for your learners?
  • ...improve learner access to learning resources?
  • ...provide the opportunity for learners to record and have access to their 'evidence', 'feedback' 24/7?
  • ...provide opportunities for formative eAssessment? (Assessment for learning)
  • ...enhance the delivery of Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)?
  • ...result in a significant reduction in paper-based systems/printing/photocopying costs?
  • ...enhance CPD of staff? (an increased understanding of needs and resources to meet those needs for example)
  • ...lead to an improvement in the quality of teaching, learning, assessment and internal verification?
  • ...lead to staff being fully engaged with ILT/eLearning on a regular basis within their area of work?
  • ...lead to a culture of active, collaborative working and of sharing resources and expertise?
