Engaging with Learners: - Safeguarding
Help I Need Somebody...
All stakeholders within a Learning Provider have to be careful to avoid physical and other dangers on the Internet.
This supplement shows that users...
- on Bulletin Boards, Forums, & Newsgroups;
- in chatrooms;
- using email;
- using Instant Messaging;
- on the web;
- using Peer-to-Peer Services;
- Posting & Sharing Personal Information Online
- in Social Networking Sites
may encounter things that may...
- make them feel...
- scared,
- uncomfortable, or
- confused.
- be...
- sexual and/or
- violent in nature
- hateful,
- repulsive, or
- unpleasant.
What matters is that learning providers ...
- 'empower their learners' to keep safe and, at the same time raise the skills of their staff and other stakeholders to cope with issues that arise from these encounters
- provide teachers/assessors/verifiers/tutors etc., and the wider learning provider’s workforce with the skills and knowledge that they need to keep themselves safe and support/help their learners
