For many practitioners, producing 'resources/content' for a VLE can be a daunting task and, only being able to do this online and using the VLE itself to create them limits when and where this can be done.

eXe allows users to...

  • work off line
  • carry the 'work in progress' on a memory stick
    • allowing them to work on any PC which allows the use of USB devices and the running of .exe files.
  • export the resulting 'resource/content' in a number of formats including...
    • HTML (webpages) that are menu driven or a single page (the latter needed for those who use screen readers)
    • Zipped files for uploading to the VLE (2 formats: SCORM for tracking learners and HTML)
    • Text File and
    • iPod Notes
  • produce 'resources/content' that can be subjected to Quality Processes before uploading to the VLE.
  • retain ownership of the 'original'

The biggest plus is that, unless the resource/content' depends upon internet access, the end products can be used in any venue.

Note: this and many of the resources produced by the author, John Dalziel, are produced using eXe; because they are accessed using a browser, the operating system (Windows, Apple, Lynux etc.) isn't important.

Find out more and/or download the free software at http://www.exelearning.org/.

Remember: You may, at a later date, want to change your VLE; It may be impossible to extract data from the current VLE to place into another but if this isn't possible, using eXe will save practitioners having to start all over again.
