Video Options

The following settings are a guide to setting up CamStudio; it has been found that these settings produce 'satisfactory' results. The default setting will result in the video and audio being out of sync, so it is advisable to make changes.

Open CamStudio and...

  • Using the options menu select Video Options...

  • Using the drop-down menu in the Compressor section of the dialog box change the default setting (Microsoft Video 1) to CamStudio Lossless Codec v1.4 as shown below...

    Note:
    1. Compressors help reduce file size; remember YouTube has a limit of 100MB.
    2. If the Codec isn't on the drop-down menu, the CamStudio Lossless Codec v1.4 can be downloaded from http://camstudio.org/; where you will also find instructions on how to install it.
  • Using the slider, click-n-drag the Quality to 60

  • Change the default value to 30 frames in the Set Key Frames section...

  • In the Framerates section change Capture Frames to Every 50 milliseconds...

    and the Playback Rate to 20 frames/second...

    Note: If the audio and video isn't in sync you can try one or more of the following settings
    Capture Frames Every Milliseconds : Playback Rate frames/second
    i.e. this is 50:20, try 33:30 or 100:10 0r 67:15 etc.

  • Make sure that the checkbox against Auto Adjust is clear...

  • When all the adjustments have been made click the OK button
