Cursor Options

As stated in the introduction, users of CamStudio can customize the cursor.

To do this...

  • Use the Options menu and Select Cursor Options as shown here...

  • The following Cursor Options dialog box opens and looks like this...

    In the dialog box there are two sections...
    1. The Cursor Display Section - There are occasions, when screen capturing, that users will not want the Cursor visible; if that is the case select the Hide Cursor Radio button otherwise leave this section as it is.
    2. The Cursor Highlight Section -
      .
      To help your 'viewers' know where your cursor is, make sure the Highlight Cursor Checkbox is checked as shown in the image above. If the location of the cursor isn't important then uncheck the check-box.

      The Size of the highlight can be adjusted using the slider (generally this can be left as it is)
      .
      The Shape can be selected from the drop-down list and, as can be seen from the image above, can be a circle, ellipse, square or rectangle - just select your preference.
      The Colour of the highlight can be changed (most people leave it as it is; consistent approach/portability within the organisation? It may need changing to be inclusive for some learners) by clicking the Color Button...

      To help 'viewers' know which mouse button you click (Improves communication and accessibility; meeting the Disability Equality Duty) Make sure the Enable Visual Click Feedback checkbox is checked as shown here...

      Note: There are occasions when the Visual Click Feedback isn't appropriate in which case uncheck the checkbox.

      The colours for each button can be changed (as the highlight button was changed) by clicking on...
  • The Left Button Color button OR
  • The Right Butoon Color button
and selecting the appropriate colours from the Color dialog box that appears in each case.

  • When all the changes have been made click the OK button...
