Importing / aligning / moving tracks to Audacity
Listen to thess audio files, the first one has been recorded so you can Import and Add audio/music to it...
This tutorial uses these tracks which have been downloaded from WavSource...
Option 1: Adding a track before the recording...
- Open the original audio File; the wave form will look something like this...
. - Using the Project menu, select Import Audio...

- Locate the audio file you wish to use, select it and click the Open button (in this example I've selected the Here-I-Come.mp3)...

. - The track, in this case a mono track, will be added and look something like this...

. - Click on the Time Shift Tool...

. - Move the cursor over the original track; note the cursor is now a double-headed arrow that indicates the direction the track can be dragged...

- Click-n-drag the recording until the 'start' lines up with the 'end' of the added track; as shown here...

. - Click the Play button to listen to the result...

Note: you may wish to use your Basic Editing & Trimming skills to 'clean-up' the resulting track.
It is very likely that not all of the track will be in view; it can be viewed by zooming out...
- Click on the Zoom Out tool
OR the Fit project in window
tool and it will all come into view as shown below... (the Zoom out tool may need more than one click)
Option 2: Adding a track after the recording (Note: - this continues using the same audio files as for Option 1)...
- Using the Project menu, select Import Audio...

. - Locate the audio file you wish to use, select it and click the Open button (in this example I've selected the NeedHelp.mp3)...

. - The track, in this case a mono track, will be added and look something like this...

.

Note: the idea this time, is to move the imported track so that its beginning lines up with the end of the recorded track; this is easier if the tracks are next to each other...
To move the position of a track (in this case up above the track we added), do the following...
- Next to the track title (in this case NeedHelp) click the drop-down arrow; a menu appears as shown below...

. - Select Move Track Up from the menu...

- Select the Time Shift Tool as before...

.
- Click-n-drag the track so that it aligns as required (see greater detail in Option 1 above); then use the Fit project in window tool...

...so that all tracks are visible...
They should look something like this...

Note: you may wish to use your Basic Editing & Trimming skills to 'clean-up' the resulting track which should now sound something like this...
