The JISC Advance Regional Support Centres (RSCs) are a government funded entity, supporting and stimulating innovation in Post-16 Education; this includes support for Learning Providers funded to deliver Work Based Learning. 

RSCs offer a wide range of support delivered through personal consultations, websites, technical helpdesks, events, workshops, forums, newsletters, e-mailing lists and a variety of online communication methods. 

Support available for Work Based Learning Providers includes:

• demonstrating how technology can improve the variety, flexibility and quality of training and assessment
• strategic support for quality improvement using new technology
• supporting bid strategy with partner body initiatives (ALP, LSIS and NIACE)
• making assessment practice more efficient, effective and transparent
• how technology can be used to monitor learner progress and achievement
• experiential advice for identifying and implementing ePortfolios
• consultation on the practical use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs)
• advice on tailoring provision to the requirements of the learner whilst meeting the needs of the employer

Regional events, peer support groups and bespoke on-site training for WBL providers covering topics such as:

• Safeguarding - a limiting grade within Ofsted inspections
• Equality and Diversity - a limiting grade within Ofsted inspections
• Employer engagement
• Online assessment
• Stakeholder Voice

Freely available online resources covering topics such as:

• Functional Skills
• Safeguarding
• Sustainability (coming soon)
• Assessment and Verification
• Bid Writing

Support provided by the RSC Northwest is free of charge to Work Based Learning Providers based in the North West directly funded by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for post-16 Work Based Learning provision.
